Inter-school Senior Level English Debate Semi-final

This afternoon, SMSO debate team was at the inter-school Senior Level English Debate semi-final, against the team from Maktab Duli at Radio Television Brunei. SMSO was the opposition team against the motion "Schools do not prepare students for the world". The SMSO speakers were Muhd Nuh Musa, Helmy Markineh and Nur Amal Hayati Hj Johari.

This year, SMSO team beat Maktab Duli, and will be at the final on 4 May 2009, against PTE Katok.

Form 6 Students visit to Syariah Court

Today both Upper and Lower 6 students who are 'A' Level Syariah visited the Syariah Court in Bandar seri Begawan.

Dikir Syarafil Anam / Daiba'ie Tutong District Inter-school Competition

In conjuction with Maulidur Rasul, a Dikr Syarafil Anam / Daiba'ie Inter-school competition for the Tutong District was held this morning at the SMSO Multi-purpose Hall. The competition started with the opening speech by the guest of honour YM Hassan Bin Amat, Pegawai Pengajian Islam Daerah Tutong, Jabatan Pengajian Islam.

Both SMSO teams, Nurul 'Ain and Az-Zikra, won the first and second prize respectively.

SMSO 10th Annual Sports Day

This morning, despite of earlier heavy rain, the annual sports day was held at the Sports Complex in Tutong town with the invited guest of honour, YM Hj Mohd Rosfazilah bin Hj Yusly, Penolong Ketua Pegawai Belia & Sukan, Selaku Ketua Cawangan JBS, Daerah Tutong. The event started with aerobics, followed by track races and ended with tug-of-war and prize giving ceremony.

This year, the house champion goes to Baiduri with first runner up being Berlian, followed by Mutiara.

Academic Excellence Achievement Award Ceremony for Public Examinations 2008

Academic Excellence Achievement Award ceremony for GCE 'A' and 'O' Levels and PMB 2008, was held at the SMSO Multipurpose Hall this morning.

The ceremony started with the Surah Al-Fatihah recited by Ustaz Mohd Noorerwan Hj Yahya, followed by a welcoming speech by Cg Hamidah Hj Daud, the Principal and a speech by the Guest of Honour, Mr Koh Hong Puah, Assistant Director of School (Secondary).

U6 and L6 students performed the choir and dances before the awards presentations.

The ceremony ended with a drama sketch by the MPPs.
